Handbook of applied fisheries reproductive biology for stock assessment and management

AutorDomínguez-Petit, Rosario ; Murua, Hilario; Saborido-Rey, Fran ; Trippel, Edward A.
Fecha de publicación2015
ResumenThis handbook is a compendium of the most substantial aspects of fish reproductive biology applied to stock assessment and management and it contains the procedures to carry out different studies on it. It is an applied book set aside for fisheries researchers, PhD students and lecturers, and is intended not only for advanced fisheries institutions, but also institutes that are embarking on improving their knowledge of the reproductive capacity of their fisheries. The main objective is to provide practical knowledge for studying that subject, although brief theoretical basic notes are included to support technical and methodological contents. Thus, it offers readers the specific knowledge to carry out research in that field in a simple, pedagogical and standard way
DescripciónThe handbook is structured in five chapters and additionally, it includes a Glossary with definition of standard terminology commonly used in these types of studies. Chapters are being published online as they are finished. Three of these chapters are already available (see the link below): Chapter 1. Introduction to Fish Reproductive Ecology Chapter 2. Data Collection and Statistics Chapter 3. Maturity (http://hdl.handle.net/10261/87787) Chapter 4. Egg Production (http://hdl.handle.net/10261/87768) Chapter 5.
