ResumenAlloplasmic rye is the name given to plants whose cells have «wheat cytoplasm» and «rye genome» (Lein, 1948-49). Such plants can be obtained lrom wheat-rye amphiploids by successive backcrosses to rye as male recurrent parents. From the breeding standpoint, alloplasmic rye may be of interest in agriculture as a means to get together in the same plant the rusticity of rye and sorne of the good agronomic characteristics 0f wheat. This would be possible if the interaction of rye genes and wheat plasmon were not unfavourable. In this paper, the cytogenetic behaviour of some plants, obtained after several backcrosses, is analyzed and discussed.
