The influence of the metal follows the order Au ≫ Ag ≥ Cu. The three-coordinated complexes are obtained from the reaction of [AuClL], [Ag(OTf)L], or [Cu(NO3)(PPh3)2] with the closo carborane diphosphane in refluxing ethanol.
