AbstractThe control over the synthesis conditions (temperature, pH, and atmosphere) to avoid the oxalate formation has allowed obtaining two crystalline architectures in the lanthanide/pyrimidine-4,6-dicarboxylate system. The structural diversity has been rationalized based on the combined effect of the Ln(III) size, the ligand steric hindrance and the reaction temperature employed during the hydrothermal synthesis. The magnetic and luminescence properties of these compounds have also been accomplished.
