[EN] The aim of this work has been to study the sintering of Y2SiO5 employing the limit temperature of 1600ºC. The resulting material
must present a high density (more than 85% of the theoretical one) and more than 90% of the phase Y2SiO5. Different materials were prepared from slip-casting of aqueous suspensions of the corresponding oxides: SiO2 and Y2O3. Al2O3 was employed as an additive in an alternative route. The sintered samples have been characterized by MEB and X-rays diffraction (XRD). In the binary system SiO2-Y2O3, the low sintering level obtained at 1600ºC (compositions 50/50, 49.5/50.5 and 49/51). The use of Al2O3 as an additive permits the sintering in liquid phase, obtaining a density higher than 90% of the theoretical one.
