This paper reports on a new microfluidic platform and its application to the implementation of affinity assays. Multiple LED-actuated wax valves can be integrated in the microfluidic chips allowing the automated control of different fluids with a compact instrument. TNFα cytokine species was successfully detected with this system using a sandwich-like Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay protocol.
