[Au(CF3)(CO)]: A Gold Carbonyl Compound Stabilized by a Trifluoromethyl Group

Fluorination operates for good: A trifluoromethyl group is able to stabilize the title compound (see picture; Au yellow, C gray, F green, O red), which formed by low-temperature treatment of [PPh4][Au(CF 3)2] with BF3·OEt2. A trigonal environment is adopted by each molecule with aurophilic interactions with three near-neighbors in a global triskelion arrangement.
