Chemistry in low pressure glow discharges. Surface and ion processes

The chemistry of plasmas generated in low-pressure hollow cathode discharges of various hydrogen rich gas mixtures is studied. At the low pressures investigated, formation of new neutrals and recycling of the precursors takes place mainly by surface reactions. The hierarchy of the protonated ions in these plasmas is found to be largely dictated by the proton affinity of their respective molecular precursors.
