Research Professor at the Institute of Catalysis and Petroleum Chemistry (ICP) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), director of the institute from 12/2005 until 01/2014, and Chief of the Molecular Sieves Group of ICP. My scientific activity focuses on the synthesis of zeolites and porous materials for catalytic applications, as well as on the development of systems for the removal of fluoride and arsenic from drinking water. I also devote part of my time to teaching and research in the history of alchemy and chemistry. Author of 250 papers in SCI journals (h = 58); five books on scientific and historical subjects; 30 patents, two of them licensed, and supervisor of 14 PhD Thesis. Member of the editorial board of Structure & Bonding and of the scientific council of the journal Llull, edited by the Spanish Society for the History of Sciences and Techniques; member of the board of the History of Science Group of the Spanish Royal Chemical Society; corresponding Academician of the Spanish Royal Academy of Pharmacy; doctor Honoris Causa by the Metropolitan Autonomous University of Mexico.
