I got a Bachelor of Science in Biology (2002), at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and my first contract at IMEDEA took place in 2007. My present work is focused on determining the chemical composition of otoliths, and other calcified tissues, using micro-chemical techniques, such as Solution Based-ICPMS (supported by the micro-milling technique) and LA-ICPMS. I am also working on the determination of fish age by otolith reading. I work with marked otoliths to validate the methodology of age determination using several techniques such as fluorescent microscopy. I also help my research team in other tasks such as sampling campaigns, preparation of samples for analysis, updating of bibliographic data, maintaining datasets or writing technical reports.
