Estudiamos las rutas de biosíntesis de lípidos y ácidos grasos en plantas, con especial interés en la ruta de desaturación de ácidos grasos y concretamente la regulación, distribución y organización de las omega-3 desaturasas de ácidos grasos. También estudiamos la biosíntesis de ácidos grasos de cadena larga en especies vegetales de interés industrial para la producción de biocombustibles con alto valor energético y mejora de sus propiedades de manejo a bajas temperaturas. ---------- We study the biosynthesis of lipids and fatty acids in plants, focusing in the fatty acid desaturation pathway, and more concretely, in the regulation, distribution and organization of the omega-3 fatty acid desaturases. We are also interested in the biosynthesis of long-chain fatty acids in plant species with industrial applications, particularly in the obtention of biofuel with high energetic value and enhanced low-temperature properties.
