El grupo de Biotecnología Medioambiental fue creado con el objetivo de investigar la capacidad metabolizadora de las bacterias para aplicaciones medioambientales. Estudiamos los genes, las enzimas y la regulación de las rutas metabólicas tanto para degradar contaminantes como para sintetizar compuestos químicos mediante procesos de biotransformación/biorefinería (e. g., fármacos, biocarburantes, biomateriales, enzimas), contribuyendo así a reducir el impacto medioambiental que genera la actividad humana.
The Environmental Biotechnology group was created to investigate the metabolizing abilities of bacteria for environmental applications. We study the genes, enzymes and regulation of the metabolic pathways both to degrade the environmental contaminants and to synthesize chemical compounds by biotransformation / biorefinery processes (e.g., pharmaceuticals, biofuels, biomaterials, enzymes), thus helping to reduce the environmental impact generated by human activity.
