Descripción/Description
Las dos líneas de investigación del grupo se centran en: (i) comprender las bases moleculares de las infecciones causadas por Acinetobacter baumannii, un patógeno multiresistente, y (ii) el mecanismo de reconocimiento de carbohidratos por lectinas, que se encuentran involucradas en algunas patologías como en cáncer. Para ello empleamos la cristalografía de rayos X junto con otras técnicas biofísicas y bioquímicas para lograr nuestros objetivos.
Our research interests focus on two major research lines: (i) the molecular basis of Acinetobacter baumannii infection, a life-threatening pathogen, and (ii) the mechanism of carbohydrate recognition by lectins, which have been shown to be involved in cancer development. For this, we use X-ray crystallography in conjunction with other biophysical and biochemical techniques to accomplish our goal.
