A fluorescence image of an Islet of Langerhans stained for insulin (green) and cell nuclei (blue). Under specific conditions, beta cells can replicate (pink) in order to meet insulin demands which are required to control blood glucose levels. Failure to match these demands results in Diabetes Mellitus.
