Resumen: A method is described for discriminating inorganic particles size distributions based on hyperspectral attenuation spectra. For this aim, the beam attenuation spectra of different suspended sediment concentrations, with size distribution ranges from mud ,<5 μm, to fine sand (125-250 μm), were measured in the laboratory by means of the hyperspectral attenuation meter VIPER with 5 cm path length. In order to classify the measured spectra according to their relative similarity in the spectral shape, a hierarchical cluster analysis has been applied and the obtained values were represented in a Multi-dimensional scaling graphic
