humedad volumétrico inicial inferior a 0.03 m3m-3.
[EN] Measurements of soil hydraulic properties are crucial for many studies in agronomy, hydrology and environmental sciences. This paper presents a quick and precise method for estimating the soil hydraulic properties, i.e. soil water retention and hydraulic conductivity curves, for homogeneous soil profile conditions. The method relies on the best-fit between modeled and measured transient soil water content at four different depths of the soil profile. The modeled ones are erived from analytic integration of the Richards’ flow equation and the measured ones from a TDR probe device. A 0 cm long three-rod TDR probe was installed at the bottom f a clear plastic column (40 cm high and 23 cm internal diameter), which was packed twice with homogeneous sand. The initial soil water content was less than 0.03 m3m-3. The “nomogram TDR method” (Moret et al., 2005) was used to determine the soil water content for 0-10, 0-20, 0-30, and 0-40 cm layers. The sand column was water-saturated through the top using a tension disc infiltrometer with a base diameter of 200 mm. The values of the parameters for the water retention and hydraulic conductivity functions that best-fit (R2 = 0.99, P < 0.05) the modeled time-course soil water content to measured ones at the same soil depths were similar to those measured with the disc infiltrometer and within the range of the values for the corresponding sand. However, further research is needed to develop numerical methods to apply this method to heterogeneous soil conditions. |
