Resumen: The primary aim of this workshop, the first of three to be held within the course of the project, was to present a summary of the available data in relation to aspects relevant to conflicts between hunting and biodiversity (and particularly between hunting and raptor conservation). We considered the socio-economic and biological patterns of hunting in the countries participant in the project (Portugal, Spain, France, United Kingdom and Finland); the positive or negative effects of management practices for hunting on wildlife; the theoretical framework of raptor-prey relationships; and the consequences of gamebird shooting on raptor populations. Additionally, the workshop aimed to take a first step in the discussion about how to solve these conflicts, to be developed in the second workshop.
