Topónimos griegos en Iberia y Tartessos

Abstract

[EN] The author revises the toponyms of Greek origin in the Mediterranean coast of Spain, as well as the Greek adaptations of non-Greek toponyms. From this study some conclusions are reached on the knowledge of geographical accidents, productions and people by the Greeks from the sixth century B.C. onwards. The Ionian dialect appears in some of these toponyms. Also the names Tartessos and Tarsis, hellenized forms of tart- / turt-, are studied: Tarsis presents the well known Ionian phonetical change -tis > -sis.
