SERS of AMP on different silver colloids

Abstract

Several silver colloids, prepared by different procedures, have been used to study the electrodynamical behaviour of adenosine 5′-monophosphate (AMP) and the orientation adopted by AMP on each of them. HCl has been used to modify the morphology and the charge of the silver surfaces. The surface-enhanced Raman scattering spectra obtained is interpreted in terms of nucleotide reorientation on every colloid. A different interaction of the molecule with the metal is also inferred. The absorption visible-UV spectra of the colloids are used to investigate the state of aggregation in each case. The different results found when using HCl or NaCl demonstrate that the effect caused by the Cl- ion is pH dependent. © 1992.
