[EN] The invention relates to a method for the synthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), to the resulting PHAs, and to the use of said PHAs. The PHAs of the invention, known as PHACOS, have a novel monomer composition, since they contain monomers with thioester groups in the side chain that confer thereon novel physical chemical properties and allow the subsequent chemical modification thereof.

[ES] La presente invención se refiere a un proceso de síntesis de polihidroxialcanoatos (PHA), a los PHA obtenidos mediante este proceso y al uso de dichos PHA. Los PHA de la presente invención, denominados PHACOS, tienen una composición monomérica nueva, ya que contienen monómeros con grupos tioéster en la cadena lateral que les confieren nuevas propiedades fisico-químicas y penniten su posterior modificación química.
