Title: | Subunit Composition of B. subtilis RNA Polymerase |
Authors: | Ávila, Jesús CSIC ORCID ; Hermoso, José Miguel; Viñuela, Eladio; Salas, Margarita CSIC ORCID | Issue Date: | 27-Jun-1970 | Publisher: | Nature Publishing Group | Citation: | Nature 226: 1244-1245 81970) | Abstract: | RECENT evidence indicates that the temporal control of transcription can be regulated by specific initiation factors (factors), first characterized by Burgess et al.1 for the RNA polymerase of Escherichia coli. Our studies indicate the existence of temporal control in the synthesis of the proteins coded by the DNA of Bacillus subtilis phage 29 (unpublished results of E. Méndez, G. Ramirez, M. S., and E. V.). To study the induction of specific factor(s) and the control of the transcription of viral DNA after infection of B. subtilis with 29, we purified the RNA polymerase from uninfected cells and report here, first, the isolation of the pure enzyme and, second, its subunit composition | Publisher version (URL): | http://dx.doi.org/10.1038/2261244a0 | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10261/39832 | DOI: | 10.1038/2261244a0 | ISSN: | 0028-0836 | E-ISSN: | 1476-4687 |
