CitationVirology 50(1): 180-188 (1972)
AbstractTryptic peptide analysis of two of the head proteins of bacteriophage 29, HP1 and HP3, has shown that they are two different proteins. Treatment of the phage particles with 50% dimethylsulfoxide releases the fibers of the head. The fiberless particles are infectious and do not contain protein HP3. The head fibers have been purified and characterized by electron microscopy; by gel electrophoresis they were shown to be protein HP3, protein HP1 being the major head protein
