Autor: | Martínez-Carrasco, Rafael CSIC ORCID; Pérez Pérez, Pilar CSIC ORCID ; Sánchez de la Puente, L. | Fecha de publicación: | 1980 | Editor: | CSIC - Centro de Edafología y Biología Aplicada de Salamanca (CEBA) | Citación: | Anuario del Centro de Edafología y Biología Aplicada del CSIC- Vol. VI: 307-323 (1979) | Resumen: | [EN] The effect of nitrogen on tillering, dry matter production and leaf
area of the various shoots of the wheat plant was studied in a glasshouse experiment.
The nutrient was applied continuously between the stage of stem elongation
and 30 days after anthesis, in the range from 0.1 to 12.8 meq N 1-1 of nutrient solution.
Previously all the plants were supplied with a nutrient solution containing
8 meq N 1-1.
Applying 12.8 meq N 1-1 new tillers were formed. With 6.4 and 12.8 meq N
1-1the survival of tillers already developed when the nutrient treatments started
increased considerably, as well as the number of ear-bearing shoots.
Nitrogen increased total dry weight and the dry weight of tillcrs. but with the
two highest levels of the nutrient (6.4 and 12.8 meq 1-1) the dry weight of the
main shoot decreased. The response of leaf dry weight to nitrogcn was larger than
that of stem and ear dry weight.
Leaf area and leaf duration were greater as nitrogen supply increased. The leaf
area, unlike the dry weight, of the main shoot, was not decreased by the highest
levels of the nutrient. The green area of tillers showed a larger response to nitrogen
than that of the main shoot. The effect of nitrogcn on green area duration was different
for the various organs of the main shoot and tillers. Ninety per cent of the
variation in dry weight caused by nitrogen was accounted for by leaf area duration. |
