Title: Kainate receptors keep the excitement high
Authors: Lerma Gómez, Juan
Issue Date: 1-Mar-2001
Publisher: Elsevier
Abstract: The extent to which the disinhibitory properties of kainate contribute to its epileptogenic activity will ultimately be revealed by experimental approaches that are able to differentiate the presynaptic from the postsynaptic effects of kainate. Meanwhile, we do know that if you give kainate you get seizures. However, further misinterpretations could be avoided by keeping the acute and chronic actions of kainate separate.
