Abstract[EN]The invention relates to recombinant vectors based on the Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) virus as vaccines against leishmaniasis. The inventive vectors contain sequences encoding the LACK protein, which are preferably inserted into the hemagglutinin locus of the virus under the control of a promoter which enables the expression of same throughout the infection cycle of the virus. The invention comprises stable, safe vectors which elicit a strong immune response that provides protection against leishmaniasis and which, as such, are particularly suitable for use in vaccination against said disease, especially in humans, as well as in the largest animal reservoir of said anthropozoonosis, i.e. dogs.
[ES]Vectores recombinantes basados en el virus vaccinia modificado de Ankara (MVA) como vacunas contra la leishmaniasis. Los vectores de la invención contienen secuencias codificantes de la proteína LACK, preferentemente insertadas en el locus de hemaglutinina del virus y bajo el control de un promotor que permite su expresión a lo largo del ciclo de infección del virus. Son vectores seguros, estables, que dan lugar a una potente respuesta inmune que confiere protección frente a la leishmaniasis, por lo que son buenos candidatos para ser utilizados en vacunación frente a esta enfermedad, especialmente en seres humanos, así como en el reservorio animal más importante de esta antropozoonosis, los perros
