Coleccionismo de antigüedades y recepción del clasicismo: relaciones entre Italia y España en el siglo XVIII

Abstract

[ES] En el marco de las relaciones entre España e Italia durante el siglo xv111, este trabajo analiza la influencia que las colecciones de antigüedades -fundamentalmente esculturas-, fumadas en Roma y Nápoles y traídas a España, tuvieron en la difusión de las ideas sobre el mundo clásico en la misma, así como su recepción por parte de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando y su utilización por los artistas al servicio de la dinastía borbónica. Asimismo se estudia brevemente la aportación de los viajeros españoles por Italia al conocimiento de las antigüedades hispanas, y se discute el mito de Pompeya y Herculano como fuente inspiradora del arte neoclásico

[EN] This article analyses the influence of the antiquity collections, particularly sculptures, brought From Rome and Naples to Spain during the XVIIth century, relationship between the Spanish monarchy and íhe Italian states. They contributed to the diffusion of classical ideas in Spain and the formation of Painters and sculptors. It also studies their reception in the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. in Madrid, and their use by the artists of the royal service. Moreover it pays attention to the contribution of Spanish travellers to Italy in the better knowledge of Hispanic antiquities and discuss the play role by Poinpeya and Herculano ~~ excavations in the neoclassical art
