El valor de la memoria histórica como aglutinante y seña de identidad para la cohesión de una sociedad

Abstract

Una nación es una pluralidad vasta de individuos humanos asentados intergenera­cional­mente en un territorio a quienes unen algunos vínculos culturales, políticos, económicos y geográficos. Como las demás colectividades, la nación tiene una memoria compartida, herencia psico-social que fundamenta su ser colectivo. Para evitar su disgregación, necesita transmitir el recuerdo de la intergeneracional saga colectiva. Será valioso mantener y ampliar el conocimiento verídico de ese pasado común como aglutinante social siempre que esté generalizado entre la población el interés por que continúe existiendo la sociedad unificada así formada, como un instrumento idóneo de convivencia para el bien común.

A nation is a broad plurality of human individuals who, through a number of generations, have settled on a land and are bound by several cultural, political, economic and geographical ties. As any other collectivity, a nation shares a common memory, which is a psycho-social heritage grounding its colective being. In order to avoid its dismemberment, it needs to transmit the remembrance of its collective narrative. To preserve and enlarge the truthful knowledge of the common past as a social bond will be worthwhile to the extent the population is broadly interested in the continuation of the unified society thus formed, as a beneficial tool for living-together and the common good.
