AbstractWe have studied the effect of Raman amplification on the performance of a fiber optic distributed sensor based on Stimulated Brillouin scattering. A comparison between the results obtained without amplification and with three different Raman pumping configurations (co-propagating, counter-propagating and bi-directional) is presented.
