|Abstract:||Parasitological examinations of Barbus barbus bocagei, caught in the river Esla at Valencia de Don Juan from 1977 to 1979, revealed the presence of a myxosporidian of the genus Myxobolus Butschli 1882, which we identified as M. tauricus Miroshnichenko 1979. Of the 107 barbels examined, 77 (71.96 %) were found to be parasitized. The more frequently and intensively infected organs were the kidney, ureters, spleen, peritoneum and gail bladder. The myxosporidian was also found occasionally in muscle, liver, intestine, heart, cloaca, swim bladder, fat body and skin, and very rarely (only in 1 of the fish examined), in gonads, gills and blood.|
