AbstractThe Myxobolus spp. found in the examination of 107 Barbus barbus bocagei from the Esla river are: M. muelleri BÜTSCHLI, 1882 and M. tauricus MIROSHNICHENKO, 1979 from various organs; M. lobatus DOGIEL, 1934 from gills; and M. cutanei n. sp. from skin and scales. M. muelleri and M. lobatus are recorded for the first time in Barbus barbus bacagei and in the Iberian Peninsula. Descriptions, drawings and photomicrographs, and data on the prevalence and intensity of the infections, are given for M. muelleri, M. lobatus and M. cutanei n. sp. In the analysis of the population dynamics a seasonal pattern that almost fits a bimodality was observed. There was no influence of the host fartors on the infections or interspecific relationships.
