Resumen:	The present invention relates to a device and a method for detecting fraud in energy, fluid or other meters that provide a cheap qualitative tool to detect the fraud in the meters that takes place by enclosing a strong magnet on the gauge of the meter. When this external magnetic field is applied on the device situated near the gauge, the magnetization of a previously encoded magnetic stripe is destroyed.
