Fecha de publicación: | oct-2016 | Citación: | Ocean Optics XXIII (2016) | Resumen: | Copernicus is the European Programme for the establishment of an European capacity for Earth ObservaGon. The goal of SenGnel satellite constellaGon (SenGnel 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 5P) is to support European operaGonal and policy needs for Copernicus. The SenGnel-‐2 mission provides conGnuity to services relying on mulG-‐spectral high spaGal resoluGon opGcal observaGons over global terrestrial surfaces. However, here we present two images captured from the SenGnel-‐2A satellite while several High Amplitude Internal Waves (HAIWs) are presented in both images. These HAIWS are physical processes that normally occur in the Strait of Gibraltar (Southwest of Iberian Peninsula). These internal waves are generated over Camarinal Sill during the Gdal ouTlow (toward the AtlanGc Ocean) when criGcal hydraulic condiGons are established. Although presence of HAIWs have been normally observed from remote sensing images such as SyntheGc Aperture Radar (SAR), we present two captures (8th March and 7th April of 2016) from MulGSpectral Instrument (MSI) aboard the SenGnel-‐2A satellite. These events represent one of the first episodes of significant internal waves acGvity imaged by the new European Space Agency’s SenGnel-‐2A satellite. We performed a L2 processing to esGmate biogeochemical properGes in the internal waves. In addiGon, the high spaGal resoluGon of these images (10 m) allows us to analyze the internal wave acGvity in the Algeciras bay. This study provided the potenGal of SenGnel-‐2A images for examining the physical-‐biological coupling in coastal areas | Descripción: | Trabajo presentado en el Ocean Optics XXIII, celebrado en Victoria (Canadá) del 23 al 28 de octubre de 2016. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10261/179714 |
