AbstractThe comparative analysis of testimonies of Spaniards women and men who lived in Morocco and Equatorial Guinea during the colonial period is revealing and impacts on Euro-African Intangible Cultural Heritage content. Issues of methodology, gender, and otherness emerge and show the Spanish colonial footprints in these territories. The goal of this paper is triple: to propose a necessary distinction between the available sources of memories of Africa, to analyse the differences between male and female sources from a gender perspective, and to visualize continuities of colonial discourses on otherness Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean, of men and women. The approach allows a reflection of Hispano-African past and present.
