The Intangible Euro-African Cultural Heritage seen from the Memories of Spaniards in Morocco and Equatorial Guinea

Abstract

The comparative analysis of testimonies of Spaniards women and men who lived in Morocco and Equatorial Guinea during the colonial period is revealing and impacts on Euro-African Intangible Cultural Heritage content. Issues of methodology, gender, and otherness emerge and show the Spanish colonial footprints in these territories. The goal of this paper is triple: to propose a necessary distinction between the available sources of memories of Africa, to analyse the differences between male and female sources from a gender perspective, and to visualize continuities of colonial discourses on otherness Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean, of men and women. The approach allows a reflection of Hispano-African past and present.
