Abstract: The structure of andesgenin, a new steroid sapogenin isolated from Solanum hypomalacophyllum, was determined on the basis of spectral data and synthesis of its Huang-Minlon reduction products to be (20S, 22R, 25R)-3β-hydroxy-5α-cholestan-22,26-epoxy-4,23-dione.
