Fecha de publicación: | jun-1997 | Editor: | Asociación de Parasitólogos Españoles | Citación: | Research and Reviews in Parasitology 57(2): 127-130 (1997) | Resumen: | The elimination of sheep coccidia oocysts was studied on a monthly basis in four areas of the province of León, Spain over a period of thirteen months. Of the 937 faecal samples examined, 92,8% contained coccidia oocysts. The maximum infection prevalence was observed in December (97,6%) and it was in autumn when there was the highest number of infected animals (96,0 %). The average number of oocysts per gram of faeces (opg) was 2062,3 ± 201,2. Coccidia oocysts were detected throughout the year, with the greatest elimination being in spring and the beginning of the summer, and the maximum value was found in May (4582,9 ± 923,9). Both the prevalence (%) and the intensity (opg) of infection were greater in the youngest group of animals, decreasing gradually as the age of the animals increased. | Descripción: | 4 pages, 2 figures. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10261/12568 | ISSN: | 1133-8466 |
