The Subterranean Waters of Tenerife-I. Origin and Chemical Characteristics

Abstract

[EN] A systematic study has been made of the chemical characteristics of the subterranean waters of Tenerife from all sources, including galleries, wells, and springs. All the constituents and characteristics of agricultural interest have been considered. A marked dependence was observed between the characteristics of the water and the situation of the sources, and a study was made of the principal types of geological formation which determine the presence of subterranean accumulations of water at different levels of the island.

[DE] Die chemischen Eigenschaften unterirdischer Wässer von Teneriffa jeder Herkunft, aus Stollen, Schächten und Quellen, wurden systematisch untersucht. Sämtliche Bestandteile und Eigenschaftenvon landwirtschaftlichem Interesse wurden in Betracht gezogen. Eine deutliche Entsprechung zwischen den Eigenschaften des Wassers und seinem Herkunftsort wurde gefunden; die Haupttypen von geologischen Formationen wurden untersucht, die in verschiedenen Höhenlagen der Insel das Vorkommen unterirdischer Wasseransammlungen bestimmen.

[FR] On a effectué une étude systématique des caractéristiques chimiques des eaux souterraines du Tenerife de toutes origines, y compris des galeries, puits et sources. On a considéré tous les constituants et caractéristiques d'intérêt agricole. On a observé une dépendance marquée entre les caractéristiques de l'eau et la situation des sources, et l'on a fait une étude des principaux types de formation géologiques qui déterminent la présence d'accumulations souterraines d'eau à différents niveaux de l'île.
