Cytogenetics and cereal breeding

Abstract

The author's aim on writing the present work is to outline and reunite some facts and investigations made latterly in the field of Cytogenetics which are the basis for the development of new breeding techniques and methods. Cereal species are those to which research workers' special attention has been paid. This review will only concern these species. As indicated above, it is not intended to make an exhaustive review of the topic but to put together and diffuse the enormous applications and wide horizons which have been open to cereal breeders.
