Características de las interacciones con la sociedad de los investigadores de humanidades y ciencias sociales a partir de estudios empíricos

Abstract

[ES]: La mayoría de los estudios sobre las interacciones de los investigadores con la sociedad son de tipo general o se orientan a analizar el caso de las ciencias y las ingenierías, pero sus conclusiones se suelen aplicar a todas las áreas del conocimiento de las instituciones científicas y de educación superior. Mediante dos estudios empíricos desarrollados en el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas de España, se han analizado las dimensiones de los procesos de intercambio y transferencia de conocimiento con la sociedad de los investigadores del área de humanidades y ciencias sociales y se han comparado con los de las áreas de ciencias, tecnología e ingeniería. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto la implicación social de los investigadores de humanidades y ciencias sociales y las dificultades que se les presentan para llevarla a cabo. Se han encontrado diferencias notables entre ambas áreas, especialmente en lo referido a las formas de trabajo, los mecanismos de interacción y los agentes sociales con los que interactúan, pero también aspectos comunes, esencialmente, los relacionados con la influencia de la política y gestión institucionales. Estos resultados pueden ser utilizados para adecuar las políticas científicas nacionales e institucionales y la gestión a las especificidades de esta área.

[EN]: Although most studies on the relationship between researchers and society are general or mainly oriented to examine the case of science and engineering, their conclusions are usually applied to all the areas of knowledge of scientific and higher education institutions. Through two empirical studies developed in the Spanish Council for Scientific Research, the authors of this paper have analyzed in depth the various dimensions of the processes of knowledge exchange and transfer between researchers in humanities and social sciences and society. They have also compared these interactions to those that take place in the areas of science, technology and engineering. The results illustrate the social involvement of researchers in humanities and social sciences, as well as the specific difficulties and challenges they face. Considerable differences have been found between the two areas of knowledge, particularly in regard to their ways of working, the mechanisms of their interactions and the social partners with whom they interact. However, the authors of this paper have also found some similarities, particularly in relation to the influence of institutional policies and management processes. These findings can contribute to a better adaptation of the scientific and institutional policies to the specific area of humanities and social sciences.
