AbstractThe larval stage considered the main bottleneck in marine fish culture due to the high mortalities produced during this period. Most of the problems related with feeding and nutrition may be related to the lack of detailed knowledge on the digestive process during these early life stages. The aim of this study was to describe the relation between feeding activity and digestive functions (enzymatic activity and gene expressions) at different moments during development (10, 18, 30, and 60 days post-hatch;dph) of gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) larvae.
