[EN] The invention relates to a method for monitoring the surface roughness of a part in real time during a machining process carried out by a machine-tool. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining an incremental hybrid model representing the machining process and evaluating the incremental hybrid model in real time in order to obtain the surface roughness. This method is especially useful in micro-machining processes, where the operator cannot personally check the results of the operations, though it is also applicable to machining operations in general. The described method is simple and easy to implement, providing precise results allowing operators to make appropriate decisions during the machining process. The use of the method according to the invention allows the quality of the machined parts to be improved while reducing the total production time
