Our project studies how all the diversity of ecological interactions of a long-lived tree such as the phoenicean juniper is structured and restructured at the population expansion and advance front scenarios of its populations. Local populations of phoenicean juniper have expanded naturally in recent years in Doñana and we investigate how the complex network of interactions with mutualists and antagonists (seed dispersing vertebrates, herbivorous insects, mycorrhizae, etc.) changes, promoting a rapid expansion of their populations.
